How facts are sourced
Every state page links the state's own Secretary of State (or Division of Corporations) page for that state's filing schedule, and every federal claim is anchored to an IRS publication, a Treasury regulation citation, or a public Tax Foundation / National Conference of State Legislatures dataset. Where official guidance is ambiguous, the page says so. Where multiple credible sources disagree, the page presents the disagreement rather than picking one and pretending it is settled.
Numbers carry a "Last updated" timestamp. The calculator dataset is checked at three cadences: annual (January 5 — most states change fees on January 1), quarterly (April 5, July 5, October 5 — catches mid-cycle legislative changes), and monthly (5th of every month, notify-only).
